NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) is coming up! November is the month that novelists (and would-be novelists) chain themselves to their computers and type. And type. Until they feel like their hands are going to fall off, and until they are so tired they can no longer actually see what they are typing.
I’ll be participating for the second time this year. The goal is to write a novel of at least 50,000 words during the month of November. My goal is going to be a little bit different.
My goal is to finish the novel I started writing here. I am on Chapter Four, with a lot more to do. Unfortunately, my editor is going to be busy with school, so I don’t know how quickly things will be edited. I’ll most likely be editing myself every few chapters or so, and then setting up a posting schedule.
During the next few weeks, leading up to the start date of NaNoWriMo, I’ll be reviewing what I’ve already written, working out a few sticky plot points, and getting ready to start writing again. I’ll also be doing some baking for Thanksgiving (breads can be made and frozen), and trying to get ahead on other responsibilities, giving me as much of November off as possible. I’ll be stocking up on snack foods (Do they really have to do this just as the Christmas goodies become available??), and cleaning off my desk.
And then, in the very early morning of November 1st, I’ll sit down, and start typing. I’ll have 30 days to finish the novel I started almost six months ago. It may not be pretty, it may need a lot of editing, but it will (hopefully) be completed.
I’ll be posting chapters and writing updates as I can. Chances are, though, you’ll be seeing most of the finished chapters during December and January, as I finish editing.
